Wildshark Vineyard

Where Science meets Poetry

A vineyard born from ancient seas, shaped by fossils and cosmic origins, creating English wine that’s creative, accessible, and unforgettable for a new generation of curious drinkers.

We named the Vineyard in respect to the sea creatures that swam here during the cretaceous period, when the North Downs were the bed of a vast ocean. Megalodon and White sharks swam in vast numbers amongst the many other weird and wonderful creatures of the deep. Wildshark Vineyard has been one hundred million years in the making.

Our Ecosystem

At Wildshark Vineyard, we work with nature as our partner. By companion planting a diverse range of local flowers drawn from the vineyard’s natural habitat, we encourage beneficial insects that naturally protect our vines. This approach reduces intervention and supports a healthy, eco-friendly, and sustainable vineyard.

Biodiversity is further strengthened through the planting of native trees from the surrounding area, creating habitats that attract a wide variety of bird species. Since 2023, more than 8,000 trees have been planted, helping to restore balance, enrich the landscape, and build a resilient ecosystem for generations to come.

All Wildshark grapes are grown with an uncompromising focus on quality and provenance. Each variety is sourced exclusively from a single vineyard, allowing the character of the land to speak clearly through the fruit.

The grapes are hand-picked at optimal ripeness, ensuring only the healthiest, highest-quality bunches make it into the winery. From chalk and greensand to fossil-rich soils alive with wildflowers, our site is carefully stewarded to express its unique geology and microclimate. This meticulous approach results in fruit of purity, balance and natural elegance, the foundation for wines, and spirits, that are truly expressive of place.

Gins

Wildshark gins are shaped by a deep understanding of balance, texture and flavour. Each expression is approached much like a wine: guided by seasonality, built with patience, and focused on harmony rather than dominance. Botanicals are carefully selected for how they work together, using fruit foraged from our own hedgerows alongside ingredients from a local farm. Softer floral notes, gentle fruit and warming spice sit naturally alongside classic juniper, creating a layered yet approachable style across the range.


Two gins in the collection take direct inspiration from the vineyard. Wildshark Artisan Gin is made from Pinot Gris grapes, bringing freshness and a rounded mouthfeel, while Wildshark Sloe Gin uses Pinot Noir grapes, adding depth and structure to the rich fruit character. In these expressions, the subtle influence of grape lends elegance and a lingering finish. Together with the wider range, they form a collection that feels expressive and quietly distinctive, a natural meeting point between landscape, flavour and the art of distillation.

The Grapes at Wildshark Vineyard

CHARDONNAY – Chardonnay finds its natural voice in chalk. At Wildshark, the conditions shape a wine defined by balance and the quiet depth of the vineyard’s deep geological past which lends subtle mineral tension.

Style: Elegant, structured, mineral-led

BACCHUS – Beneath the vines, green sand shapes a wine that is bright, expressive and unmistakably English, while pockets of wildflowers between the rows add vitality to the vineyard landscape.

Style: Fresh, floral and aromatic

PINOT NOIR – Pinot Noir is a grape that responds intimately to its environment. Here, it is shaped by fossil-rich soils and England’s cool, changeable climate, producing a wine of delicacy, brightness and subtle complexity.

Style: Light-bodied, expressive, elegant

PINOT GRIS – Pinot Gris takes on a subtle, expressive character at Wildshark, where fossil-rich soils meet a living vineyard floor alive with wildflowers. Once part of an ancient seabed, the land now supports vines that produce wines with clarity, gentle texture and quiet freshness.

Style: Crisp, textured, delicately aromatic

PINOT MEUNIER – Often overlooked, Pinot Meunier thrives in cooler climates and changing conditions making it perfectly suited to the Wildshark landscape. Delivering freshness and charm with an underlying mineral edge. Approachable yet distinctive, this is a grape that captures the playful side of Wildshark while remaining grounded in place and provenance.

Keep up with Wildshark as we implement our bio-diversity action plan: Working on re-wilding the area and planting wild native species amongst the grape vines, thus encouraging the right ‘good guy’ insects that eat any little ‘bad guy’ bugs that could do harm. Be with us as we rejuvenate the eco system and encourage the return of the wild species for which this beautiful part of Kent is famous.
