What Is Veraison?

For those who don’t know, veraison is the process of ripening of our grapes, the berries soften and green grapes turn golden whilst red grapes turn black.

Essentially, it means the grapes are ripening fully, ready for Harvest in just a matter of weeks.

What Does Veraison Mean For The Vineyard?

As well as transforming the vineyard into a beautiful place to be, Veraison is an indication that the grapes are almost ready to harvest. You can really start to see how much fruit you’re expecting to harvest which is very helpful in being able to plan for the next year of selling wines.

For us at Wildshark it’s exciting as we only produced two wines in 2024 and in 2025 we’re expecting many more wines including red wine and prosecco-style so there will be LOTS more to harvest and lots more to drink!
